For the last 20 years, Jared Scarpaci has shared his love and passion for soccer with players of all ages via his professional roles in a variety of programs. Most recently, in the fall of 2015, Jared took over the reigns of the Varsity Boys’ Soccer team at Masconomet High School in Topsfield, MA, where he has taught social studies since 2002. In his first season Jared led the team to the Cape Ann League Championship and the State Finals. In 2015 he was named to the USC Region 1 rankings committee, which selects the top 25 high school boys soccer programs in the country for the USA Today national and regional polls. In 2021 he was the Boston Globe DII HS Coach of the Year.
Previously, Jared was the Head Coach of the Emerson College men’s soccer team from 2003-2014. During his 12 years at Emerson the team qualified ten years in a row for post-season play with entrance into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament. Other highlights at Emerson include: 2009 GNAC Coach of the Year, 31 All Conference Players, 93 Academic All Conference Players, 3 NSCAA Men's Scholar All East Region members, 3 All New England Players, 10 Academic All American Teams, 2 NEWMAC Conference Sportsmanship Awards, the most wins in a season in Emerson History (14), 100 wins milestone in 2012, and the most wins in school history (111). In 2014 he was named Eastern Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association – College Coach of the Year.
Heavily involved in youth soccer, Jared was the Director of the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program (ODP) for 15 years (2000-2015), and to served on Mass. Youth Soccer’s Board of Directors until 2020. He was also the vice president of Aztec Soccer Club on Boston’s North Shore, a premier soccer club with over 700 players, both boys and girls.
Mike has been a Director of Coaching for 2 youth soccer clubs and the 2nd largest State Youth Soccer Organization in the country. He was also the Executive Director of the same state organization for 4 years and provided over 80 different clubs with consulting guidance when doing so. Since then he has provided consultation to 12 more clubs and enjoys helping volunteers to help children in these clubs.
As a college soccer coach he has coached at the NCAA Division 1, 2 & 3 levels and coached within both the men's and women's sides while doing so. He guided MIT men's soccer to a conference title and more NCAA Tourneys than in the 100 year history of the program. He also led Washington & Lee University to a national #1 ranking and more NCAA Tourneys in his 10 years than the other 80 years of the program's existence. He built the program into a perennial national power having made 2 of the last 3 Final Fours and 5 of the last 6 Sweet Sixteens. Previously, when coaching on the women's side at the D2 level, he aided the team in earning the #2 national ranking. He has been Conference Coach of the Year 6 times and Regional Coaching Staff of the Year 3 times in his travels.
Mike has also been fortunate in being able to work with US Soccer Youth National Teams as a coach and as a sport psychologist. In addition he has been on a FIFA Technical Committee for a World Cup and a CONCACAF Technical Committee for a Gold Cup.
As a sport psychologist he started the program at Washington & Lee University and worked as an Associate Professor there teaching Sport Psychology for 10 years. He has also worked with lacrosse, basketball, baseball, tennis, football, and wrestling athletes as a sport psychologist.
